Submitting an online order that had sat open in a browser tab

The Tab I Finally Closed

Saturday, later.

Till counted twice, same as always. Parcel gone, shop locked up a little after five.

Dinner sorted quickly — Friday's soup, still good, corn softening nicely by the second night. Nobody complained.

Daughter at the table before I'd even picked up my spoon, phone face-up next to her folder for once instead of face-down.

Said one of the girls from the formal had messaged, asking where to get more of "the deodorant thing." Not just her. Three, maybe four, all wanting to know before she'd even finished reading me the message out loud.

Asked how many she thought, all up. She shrugged. Said hard to say, but probably more than one each, knowing them.

Wrote a number down anyway, on the same envelope the tutor's roll-on had gone on a few days back. Six, to start. Round number. Easier to hold in my head than a guess.

Laptop out once the bowls were cleared, the tab still sitting exactly where I'd left it Friday — three names typed in, ReishiMax GLp®, Optimum Omega, Probio PCC, nothing submitted.

Texted Ninuo, quick — not a call, just to check the doses were still what she'd said at the café. Wrote back inside a minute, confirmed it, added three exclamation marks I hadn't asked for.

Filled it in properly this time. Three of the ReishiMax — one each for Mum and Dad, one spare, since I'm apparently taking it myself now too, going by the empty spot that's opened up in the cupboard. Two Optimum Omega. Three Probio PCC, one per name on the envelope.

Added the six roll-ons next, the number still sitting in my head from dinner. Cart climbing a little every time I clicked.

Did a rough sum on the same envelope while I was at it — what six of them actually came to, what was left over on each one if a friend of hers ever asked to buy it properly rather than just be handed it. Nothing formal. Just pencil, a couple of numbers, tucked under the line about the tutor. Worth knowing, if it ever came up.

Added the sunscreen after that, almost without stopping to think it over. Sydney summer's not far off now — a few weeks, maybe less — and a decent SPF stops being optional the second the UV rating starts climbing on the weather app.

Didn't weigh it the way I'd weighed everything else. Just put five of the Sunright® Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+ in the cart and kept going — the one item in the whole order that didn't need convincing.

Sat back a second, cart open on the screen, and did the sum in my head rather than let the page do it for me. Not small. Bigger than anything I'd have talked myself into a month ago, back when it was one bottle, for Carol, and nothing else.

Nearly closed the laptop right there.

Then thought about Ninuo's line again, the one from the café — nobody trusts a recommendation from someone who's only ever read the label. Hadn't really sat with it properly until now, cart half-built, my own name on most of what was in it.

If I'm going to say a word to anyone else about any of this, needed to actually be living with it myself first. Not just Mum and Dad's cupboard. Mine too.

Went back and added two more Probio PCC, on their own line, separate from the family three.

For Carol. And whichever friend she brings along to the next one of those Sunday mornings — the two of them about my age, and if there's an easy place to start with any of this, it's probably that. Something small, something you take once a day and mostly forget about, not a whole routine to learn.

Didn't think much harder than that about it. Just felt like the right two bottles to be handing someone, rather than a pitch.

Checked the total twice. Pressed the button once.

Sat there after, laptop still open, waiting for the confirmation page to load properly.

Would tell Ninuo about it eventually — tomorrow, probably, or whenever it next came up over coffee. No real rush tonight.

Just sat there in the kitchen a while, order done, the whole thing bigger than I'd meant it to be an hour ago — and a lot more mine than I expected, going in.
